About Me

Hey! I’m Kerry, a freelance editor, author, and former school office goblin who spent over two decades surrounded by small humans, towering paperwork, and an alarming number of lost jumpers.

Before leaping into full-time editing, I worked with children with SEND, juggled the daily madness of a primary school office – herding cats and crunching numbers (aka admissions and finance) – and fielded furious phone calls about forgotten PE kits. It taught me patience, empathy, and how to keep calm in chaos. All very transferable to editing books, funnily enough.

These days, I help authors polish their stories until they shine – without losing what makes them theirs. I specialise in romance, romcoms, and women’s fiction, along with books for children, middle grade, and young adults. Basically, if your story has heart, humour, or hungry hula-hooping hamsters, I’m here for it.

As an author, I know all about 2am idea scribbling, snack-fuelled spirals, and existential self-doubt. I get it. And I’m here to help make your book the best it can be, without dulling the weird little spark that made you love writing in the first place.

Having also worked on thrillers, memoirs, and horror, I’m always happy to chat about any genre to see if we’d be a good fit. The only genres I don’t touch are adult sci-fi and fantasy – sorry, they’re just not my thing.

If you're looking for an editor who's sharp, kind, and maybe a little unhinged, let's talk.

Free Sample Edit

Looking for a line/copyedit or proofread?

Finding an editor can be a big step. You need to find a person who inspires confidence, someone you can trust, feel comfortable with, and who values open and honest communication. Which is why I offer a free sample edit on all full-length manuscripts - Let’s see how we get on!

If you would like to take advantage of this service, please email me, attaching a 1000-word extract from the middle of your novel/novella. I will then edit this, looking specifically at spelling, punctuation and grammar, narrative and dialogue issues, pacing, tense, tone, and readability.

For samples on shorter works, please contact me.

Client Testimonials

Here’s what some lovely people said after I helped whip their manuscripts into shape (and no, I didn’t bribe them with wine or chocolate… much).
