Editorial Reaction Read
The middle ground between a manuscript assessment and a developmental edit.
Ideal if you're looking for detailed editorial guidance within your manuscript, without committing to a full developmental edit.
What It Is
The Editorial Reaction Read provides real-time editorial feedback directly within your manuscript.
As I read, I leave comments throughout the document, capturing my immediate reactions as both an editor and a reader. You'll see where I'm engaged, confused, emotionally invested or wanting more, alongside professional editorial observations.
Feedback focuses on developmental elements such as plot, pacing, structure, characterisation, emotional depth, dialogue, relationship arcs, scene effectiveness and overall reader engagement.
Unlike a Manuscript Assessment or Developmental Edit, all feedback is delivered through comments within your manuscript rather than in a separate editorial report.
Why is this priced higher than a Manuscript Assessment?
Because feedback is provided throughout the manuscript as I read, this service involves considerably more detailed in-manuscript commenting than a standalone editorial report.

How It Works
Once your slot is confirmed and the contract is signed, you’ll send your manuscript, in Word format, by the agreed start date. I’ll then get to work. When I’m done, you'll receive a detailed reader report tailored to your story.
Best For
Authors who want more detailed editorial feedback than a manuscript assessment provides, without the scope of a full developmental edit.
Writers who benefit from seeing feedback in context, exactly where issues and strengths occur within the manuscript.
Authors preparing for revision who want clear, practical guidance on plot, pacing, characterisation, structure and emotional impact before undertaking their next draft.
